Remembering the Victims of 9-16

“What?” you say? 9-16? Specifically, September 16, 1982, when somewhere between 750 and 2,000 innocent men, women and children were raped and slaughtered under the watchful eyes of our democratic allies, the Israeli Defense Forces.

Funny, how this particular incident is absent from the discussions of the Middle East conflict.

During the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, while Israeli tanks stood guard on the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Beirut, preventing the escape of the victims, Israel’s allies committed a three-days massacre. Later, an Israeli board of inquiry found Defense Minister Ariel Sharon responsible for the incident.

So, when you think about this week, remember to stop and take a moment of silence.
