Alex Thompson’s life is following the script. A pre-law student at Columbia University, she’s focused on her grades, her life and her future. The last thing she needs is to reconnect with the boy who broke her heart.
Dylan Paris comes home from Afghanistan severely injured and knows that the one thing he cannot do is drag Alex into the mess he’s made of his life.
When Dylan and Alex are assigned to the same work study program and are forced to work side by side, they have to make new ground rules to keep from killing each other.
Only problem is, they keep breaking the rules.
The first rule is to never, ever talk about how they fell in love.

“The story grabs hold of you and not let you go. I cried, I laughed, and I cried a little more….This book is too good to pass up, and I beg of you, please read it.” – The Indie Bookshelf
“It is a poignant and sometimes emotionally overwhelming experience of both life and love…” – The Literary Review
The entire unedited first draft of the novel is here on the blog, as well as on Wattpad.
Some notes on the experience of finishing the first draft of the book in 14 days. I wrote about some of the background here a few months ago: On being young and in love.

OMG Michael, I’ve read all 3 of your last books (Dyan and Alex, Crank and Julia, and lastly the heart wrenching, heart breaker The Last Hour. Just want to know when your next incredible book is coming out…..please don’t keep us waiting long. I see that there is an audio book out now for Just Remember To Breathe which I will get because I love Dylan’s story. Hope the narrator for Dylan is good. I enjoyed your friends book, In The Stillness, however it wasn’t you. You have a very distinctive story-telling style. Keep up your wonderful work and I look forward to your next extraordinary story. Kind regards, Carol Sonnemann

Found you through Andrea Randall and loved the Thompson sister series but I think Carrie needs a follow-up book. I am a sucker for happily ever after.

I read Just Remember to Breathe as a bargain read on my Kindle but found that I couldn’t put it down, finished that one and went straight on to download and read A Song for Julia. I’ve just finished that one and will be starting The Last Hour very soon, I can’t express how wonderful, heartbreaking and honest your books are. They touch a chord within that draws out an empathy borne from experience….wow! Thank you.
